Thank you for being open to male perspectives. Most men may be content to live in ignorance of the matter of the female cycle, but it's never too late to get beyond that, and your material is very beneficial. At age 65 I am putting in the time to understand because it seems that I've been conditioned by family taboos, and despite being a husband, father of a daughter, and grandfather to two young girls, I have been somewhat uninformed and unaware about something that now seems vitally important.
What I think has paved the way for me toward this awareness is therapeutic bodywork, plus an adoption of pagan religious sensibilities. I abandoned orthodox Catholicism - its body-negativity was a deal-breaker for me. For a number of years now I have attended to the cycles of the moon and used them as a structure for my personal spiritual practice. Now I am curious about how the lunar cycle and menstrual cycle are related and might possibly interact - is this a topic you have studied?
yes Bill. Thank you so much for your share here. Even our very notion of taboo could be explored more deeply. Maybe a topic I could explore at a post. I really appreciate your humbleness and willingness to learn and explore. I am curious about how the women in your life would relate to the information on this channel (here or on youtube) and if they would feel open or "weird" about opening up conversations. We have been endocrinated by modernity so we have pretty much "ingested" shame around these topics which has made it extremely difficult for us all to learn from one another. About the moon...yes, the hormonal cocktail in a woman's body in her fertile years is quite sophisticated and very connected to the amount of light in the sky. (not so much since the invention of electricity) but before women would bleed together in the dark moon, when there was less light in the sky and ovulate in the full moon, when the skies would be light up by the moon. Full moon celebrations and parties were also fertility rituals. You can imagine why. Tks to being involved.
Thank you, Adriana. In answer to what you said - "I am curious about how the women in your life would relate to the information on this channel" - I have been thinking a lot about it, but as a man it would feel weird or intrusive to initiate. I am looking for a way "in".
The taboo goes back to my upbringing, and my wife too was from a very traditional background, but as adults we were able to discuss her cycle when we were planning our family. Other than that, I completely shut it out of consciousness, both with regard to her and to our daughter. It was sometimes brought up to explain why they weren't feeling well, but otherwise kept very private.
My lifelong impression has been that women are resigned to the fact that they must suffer in silence for part of each month, then push it aside and move on. And men are mostly indifferent. But it is exciting to think there can be profound meaning in the cycles, that would enhance the lives of both men and women if handled differently. Now my granddaughters have entered puberty, and I have no clue what information my daughter is providing - I am debating whether or not to slip her the link to your channel because she is pretty open minded.
